Traveler

I created Traveler, my first commercial product, as a solo-developer (though a couple awesome software engineer friends frequently provided pointers). I created all gameplay mechanics and UI in Blueprint, and used art assets from the Epic Games Marketplace.

Game Design Objectives Accomplished:

  1. Learned Unreal Engine Blueprint & engine version 4.26

  2. Learned how to host centralized servers through AWS and Unreal

  3. Learned Steam’s process for certifying and publishing games

Creative Objectives:

  1. Condense the Tarkov game loop into a 5-10 minute match experience

  2. Use smaller maps, where gunfights are emphasized over survival mechanics

  3. Create variety in matches through AI invasions that start new firefights and shake up fights in progress, and reward players that come out on top

Game Overview:

Traveler is the second extraction shooter to hit the market after Escape from Tarkov, with an emphasis on small-map size and close corridor combat.
